GUE Fundamentals Course
The GUE Fundamentals course is by far GUE’s most popular program. It functions as a gateway into GUE training and it is an excellent way to personally experience what GUE is all about.
Many technical divers and even experienced instructors from other organisations use the course to improve basic skills and gain access to GUE’s cave and tech-training. Everybody will benefit, regardless of their current level of certification or experience. Graduating this course with a pass is something to be proud of, as the quality of a GUE Fundamentals diver is recognised all over the diving world.
GUE Fundamentals is a comprehensive diving course that prepares you for an active and safe career in diving. The course is designed to teach divers to expand their dive skills and to cultivate solid diving skills that allow them to enjoy diving safely and confidently.
During the GUE Fundamentals course, you will learn essential skills such as buoyancy control, proper trim, and propulsion techniques. You will also be trained in dive planning, teamwork, monitoring gas supply and decompression, and diving in stress-free and weight-sharing trim.
This course is suitable for divers of all levels, regardless of dive experience. Whether you are a novice diver or an experienced technical diver, the GUE Fundamentals course will help you expand your skill set in diving safely and confidently.

It is a prerequisite for all GUE courses (apart from entry-level courses, Drysuit and Doubles primers).
The prerequisites for the GUE Fundamentals course are:
- Be a minimum of 16 years of age
- Be physically and mentally fit
- Be a non-smoker
- Be able to swim
- Obtain a physician’s prior written authorization for the use of prescription drugs, except for birth control, or for any medical condition that may be contraindicated for diving
- Be a certified GUE Rec 1 diver or be certified as an open water diver from a recognised training agency
- Complete the course registration and submit direct to GUE
