Course Overview

The GUE Technical Fundamentals course is an intensive program that combines online learning with in-person instruction, including land drills and in-water training. Over four days, you will build a solid diving platform based on balance, trim, buoyancy, and propulsion techniques, while also learning the theory and use of nitrox. This course prepares you for the rigors of technical, cave, and rebreather diving.

Course Details

  • Prerequisites:
    • Be a minimum of 16 years of age.
    • Be physically and mentally fit.
    • Be a non-smoker.
    • Be able to swim.
    • Obtain a physician’s prior written authorization for use of prescription drugs, except for birth control, or for any medical condition that may pose a risk while diving.
    • Hold a certification from a recognized training agency to dive to 100 ft/30 m or a GUE Deep Primer certification.
    • Have conducted at least 75 non-training dives following completion of autonomous scuba diver certification, with at least 25 dives to a depth of 70 ft/21 m or deeper.
    • Have conducted at least 25 non-training dives in a double tank configuration or 15 non-training dives utilizing doubles after completing the GUE Doubles Primer certification.
    • If using a drysuit, have conducted at least 15 non-training dives in a drysuit or 10 non-training dives utilizing a drysuit after completing the GUE Drysuit Primer certification.
  • Duration:
    • Normally conducted over four days.
    • Requires a minimum of eight dives and at least thirty-two hours of in-person instruction, including land drills and in-water work.
    • Additional time is required for theory, which is conducted online and/or in-person.
  • Equipment Requirements:
    • GUE-standard double-tank configuration, including backplate and wing, long hose regulator setup, and stage bottles (if applicable).
    • Dive computer, compass, backup lights, and other standard technical diving gear.
  • Certification: Upon successful completion, you will receive the GUE Technical Fundamentals certification, recognized worldwide for its high standards.
